Catch of the Month - May 2007

I would like to nominate Kathy Adkins as the Catch of the Month. Thanks to her dynamic leadership, highly-honed organizational skills and contagious enthusiasm, our first on campus graduation ceremony was a wonderful success. Obviously she also has influence with the weather gods, because the rain held off mercifully until the conclusion of the event. Her "can-do" attitude was reflected in every meeting of her committee and she never failed to find humor and lightness even when problems arose. It is also important to remember that in the midst of the planning of this event, Kathy was busy completing her own course work for graduation with her master's degree. You would never have known that she had one thought on her mind, except making graduation a complete success. Kathy is a role model for us all and she embodies the spirit of FISH.
I would like to nominate Kathy Adkins for her hard work and determination in making sure everyone that graduation went off so very well. From checking that we had the right graduates to organizing the ceremony, she was tops.
I would like to nominate Kathy Adkins for "Catch of the Month". Kathy has been eating and breathing Commencement for the last year. As time got closer she got a committee together and began the planning process. Anyone on the committee can tell you what a good organizer Kathy is. She works out everything to the most minute detail and follows up with committee members to make sure they are doing the same. If you attended Commencement, you will agree with me that despite the threat of rain - everything went smoothly, and everything looked beautiful. It was Kingwood's first commencement and she did Lone Star College-Kingwood proud!!! Kathy did an enormous amount of work to pull this together and she did it all with a smile, and would laugh away problems as they arose. There was never any doubt with her leadership that Commencement would be one to go down in the history books, and be long remembered with pride in the hearts of every graduate, faculty, staff, and administrator of Lone Star College-Kingwood. Congratulations Kathy on a job well done!
I want to nominate Kathy Adkins for all of the outstanding and loving things she does everyday, but especially for her role in the inaugural on-campus Commencement Ceremony. As a member of the commencement committee, I was able to see first hand what a strong, positive leader she is and how she is able to always display grace even when handling challenges. She is considerate, intelligent and more importantly, a lot of fun. The commencement ceremony was a huge success thanks to a lot of talented people, but under Kathy's leadership, the planning process ran efficiently, even at challenging times.
She is also a role model for students as well as faculty and staff by practicing what she preaches by continuing her own academics and demonstrating the value of education. She never turns down a task or committee on campus and around the community and yet it doesn't affect her work or her studies. I am proud to work along side of her and more proud to call her a friend and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the Catch of the Month!
I would like to nominate Kathy Adkins for the FISH of the Month. Kathy did an incredible job as Chair of the Commencement Committee and was successful in orchestrating an outstanding commencement ceremony. Kathy continues to go "above and beyond" with everything she does and the Commencement was certainly a testament to this fact. She is certainly deserving of this award.
