of the United States

Applying for financial aid

The only way to tell if you are eligible to receive
financial aid is to apply.

Lone Star College-Kingwood takes many factors into
account when awarding aid. The size of your
family and the number of family members
attending college can make a difference.

When you apply for assistance at the financial
aid office, it is not necessary to apply for a
particular type or amount of aid.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) is available in early January from the
Lone Star College-Kingwood Financial Aid Office or your
high school counseling office. Complete the
application and return it to the college for
electronic processing, or you may file or mail
the application yourself.

Apply early

Each applicant completing the FAFSA form is
automatically considered for all programs. One
or more types of aid are usually awarded in
combination to make up a student’s financial
aid package.

Although applications are accepted year-round,
submitting the application before the April 1
priority deadline may make you eligible to
receive additional grant funds.

The earlier you apply, the better the chance
you have to be considered for all financial
aid programs.
