Come join education faculty, counselors, and advisors to learn about the teacher education programs available for you at Lone Star College-Kingwood. This family-friendly information session will be held on Monday, August 11, from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Teaching Theatre (CLA 114).

This session will examine career options in the field of education, discuss programs of study available at LSC-Kingwood, assist students in registering for Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) testing, provide financial aid information, and offer on-site advising for fall 2008 classes.

LSC-Kingwood offers a bachelor's degree in teaching through Stephen F. Austin and the University of Houston-Downtown without ever having to leave campus. Louis Evans, director, college of public service advising at the University of Houston-Downtown, will be available to answer questions and assist students.

Specialized tracks for current and future educators are: EC-4 Early Childhood Specialization; EC-4 Early Childhood to Fourth Grade Generalist; and Fourth through Eighth Grade (4-8) Generalist. All tracks lead to initial Texas teacher certification.

This session is free and open to anyone interested with a special focus on high school seniors, teacher aides, paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, and preschool teachers.
