Financial assistance is one of the student service programs provided by the college system.
The only way to tell if you're eligible to receive financial aid is to apply. Lone Star College-Kingwood takes many factors into account when awarding aid. The number of members in your family and the number attending college can make a difference. You don't have to be poor to qualify, but you do have to prove you need aid.
When you apply for assistance, you do not apply for a particular type or amount of aid. One or more types of aid are usually awarded in combination to make up a student's financial aid package. When students receive scholarships from outside agencies, these scholarships are included as part of the student's total aid package.
Students need to apply for federal assistance as soon as possible after January 1 of each year.

Can I Transfer From Another School?
Generally, financial aid cannot be transferred from one post-secondary institution to another during the academic year. In most cases, you must reapply for aid. If you plan to transfer, take the following steps:
1. Contact both the Lone Star College-Kingwood Financial Aid Office and the Financial Aid Office at your current institution to inquire about transfer policies.
2. For Federal Pell Grant, be sure your Federal Student Aid report lists Lone Star College-Kingwood as a recipient.
3. If you are receiving a Federal Family Education Loan, you must cancel the loan with the school you are now attending and reapply at Lone Star College-Kingwood.
