Interior Design Program
The comprehensive curriculum at Kingwood
College’s Interior Design Program provides
students with both classroom instruction and
hands-on experience.
Students can pursue either a two-year asociate
of applied science degree in interior design or a
one-year certificate of competency in home
decorating.
The certificate of competency prepares
students for design assistant positions with
interior designers or in related retail firms.
Certificate students focus on residential design.
Topics include: design and color theory, space
planing, furniture history, drafting and
presentation boards.
The associate of applied science degree
program prepares students to work in interior
design and architectural firms, showrooms, and
corporate design offices. Course offerings cover
both residential and commercial design
problems. Advanced topics include: construction
technology, lighting design, computer-aided
drafting and business practices. Degree
students have the opportunity to participate in
an internship program which allows them to
work with prominent designers throughout the
greater Houston area.
Graduates with an AAS degree are qualified to
become allied members of the American
Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
