Associate of Arts in Teaching If you are just starting your college career or have some college course credits, Lone Star College-Kingwood offers a two-year associate of arts in teaching (AAT) degree that is fully transferable to Texas four-year colleges. Core courses apply to many different education certification programs. Currently, the college offers fields of study in Early Childhood to Grade 4 and Grades 4–8. Both tracks lead to initial Texas teacher certification. Teacher Certification Program (TCP) With an earned Bachelor's degree, and a reasonable investment of time and funds, the Teacher Certification Program (TCP) offers a one- or two-year course of study that provides college graduates an opportunity to become a certified teacher in Texas. The TCP program at Lone Star College-Kingwood began in January 2002 and has become one of the largest community college programs in Texas. Hundreds of teacher-interns are currently in the process of becoming certified and nearly 800 have successfully completed the program and are now certified teachers in Texas. As the program continues to grow, new certifications will be added to meet the needs of the school districts we serve. Information sessions are held regularly. For a complete schedule, visit the teacher certification site at Teacher Certification. |
