Cathy Stenner

This nomination is for someone that is usually behind the scenes. This employee not only assists her co-workers but also strives to help all Lone Star College-Kingwood students be successful. Cathy Stenner not only gives of her time, but also herself to everything she does. Whether it is helping one of us try to understand the budget or helping a student out who is in a financial bind, we all can count on her. A particular student comes to mind when thinking of her. This student had been the eldest of his family and had to go back to work to help support them after his father died of cancer. He did attend and eventually needed only a few more classes before he could graduate, however he could not afford to take them. Cathy lent the student the monies needed so he could enroll before his financial aid was approved. She also works the front counter assisting students when the department runs short-handed. I’ve visited her on several occasions needing assistance on different matters, however she would ask (very politely, I might add) if she could get back with me later as the student issues needed priority. I can also say she ALWAYS does get back to me, too! There is never a time I have ever needed anything from her that she has not been able to help me with. I think that Cathy’s great customer service attitude, whether student or co-worker, exemplifies what we strive to achieve.
This is why I believe that Cathy Stenner should be named FISH OF THE MONTH.
