The following information is a list of classes offered in the theatre department, credit hours and syllabi information.

DRAM 1120 Theatre Practicum (1 Credit Hour)

This course is open to all students interested in theatrical production and is recommended for all students participating in productions. Credit is earned for technical work (costuming, lighting, set construction, publicity and makeup), performance work, or other participation as designated by departmental faculty. It may be taken for four hours maximum.

Classes offered during Fall, Spring and Summer I semesters.

DRAM 1121 Theatre Practicum (1 Credit Hour)

This course is open to all students interested in theatrical production and is recommended for all students participating in productions. It may be taken for four hours maximum.

DRAM 1220 Lighting & Sound Practicum (2 Credit Hours)

This course provides students a foundation in lighting and sound for the theatre. Classroom instruction supports the hands-on experience in designing and providing technical support for theatre productions and events.

DRAM 1310 Intro to Theatre (3 Credit Hours)

This course surveys dramatic arts including plays, basic theories, history, stages, makeup, costuming, acting and directing. It provides an introduction to the theatre plant and theatre activities augmented by textbook study of stage terminology and an introduction to the organization of production procedure.

Classes offered during Fall, Dec. Mini, Spring, May Mini, and Summer I semesters. 

DRAM 1330 Stagecraft I (3 credit Hours)

This course introduces students to the aesthetics and practice of stagecraft design and provides the student with a basic understanding of the design requirements for the technical aspects of a play. This course will include hands-on design experience.

Class offered during Fall semester.

DRAM 1342 - Intro to Costume (3 Credit Hours)

This course introduces students to the principles and techniques of costume design and construction for theatrical productions. Students interested in concentrating on costume design should also enroll in DRAM 2331 Stagecraft for a more extensive laboratory experience.

Class offered during Spring semester.

DRAM 1341 - Intro to Make-up (3 credit hours)

The design and execution of make-up for the purpose of developing believable characters. a discussion of basic makeup principles and practical experience of makeup application.

DRAM 1351 Acting I (3 Credit Hours)

This course provides an introduction to the art of acting, emphasizing the techniques of speech and movement on the stage, pantomime, character analysis, through participation in lab scenes, improvisations and departmental productions.

Classes offered during Fall and Spring.

DRAM 1352 - Acting II

An introduction to the art of acting, with an emphasis on developing vocal and physical skills through work on monologues and scenes as exhibited in various historical periods.

Classes offered during Fall and Spring semesters.

DRAM 2331 Stagecraft II (3 Credit Hours)

This lecture-laboratory course gives the student a knowledge of the technical phases of mounting a production on stage. The elements of study emphasize basic construction, painting and lighting of the stage setting.

DRAM 2361 - History of Theatre I (3 Credit Hours)

A study of the history of the theatre from 1700 to present. Includes a study of the physical theatre, acting styles, costumes and sets, representative plays, and theories of drama.

Classes offered during Fall, Dec. Mini and Summer I semesters.

 

DRAM 2362 - History of Theatre II (3 Credit Hours)

A study of the history fo the theatre from 1700 to present. Includes a study fo the physical theatre, acting styles, costumes and set, representative plays, and theories of drama.

Classes offered Spring and May Mini semesters.

DRAM 2366 Development of the Motion Picture (3 Credit Hours)

Explores the history and development of film with emphasis on the analysis of the visual and aural dramatic aspects of narrative films. The historical growth and sociological effect of film as an art.
