Purpose

  • The Professional Support Staff Association is, first and foremost, a forum affording free expression and discussion of the ideas, philosophies and needs of the constituents it represents. It is the principal means by which professional and support staff participates in the decision-making process of the Lone Star College System. It is the negotiate means by which issues of concern to professional support staff are discussed with the Chancellor.
  • It is the prime responsibility of Council members to provide leadership, direction, counsel, and support to those whom they represent; to identify and utilize our strengths to accomplish stated objectives, and to seek recognition of the professional contribution made by professional and support staff to the Lone Star College System in the accomplishment of its mission.
  • Council members are responsible for ensuring the maximum, effective use of this forum for purposes stated; for engendering sufficient interaction with the Chancellor for affecting a successful resolution of issues before the Council; for developing an atmosphere of mutual respect which will lead to a merging of Association ideas, philosophies and objectives with those of the Lone Star College System.
  • The System Office Professional and Support Staff Association is comprised of all full-time and part-time, non-contractual employees.
