The Associate of Arts in Teaching

  • satisfies the lower division (i.e. freshman and sophomore level) requirements for a bachelor’s degree leading to initial Texas teacher certification.
  • qualifies one to become a professional teacher's aide.

To become a classroom teacher, the degree recipient must transfer to a 4-year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree leading to Texas teacher certification.
