Student Teaching Information

Student Teaching is an option that is now available to students in the Teacher Certification Program at Lone Star College-Kingwood. The student teaching course provides students with exciting preparation training and field based experience at the appropriate grade level and content area. Student teachers will work with a mentor teacher at an assigned public school and with a Lone Star College-Kingwood supervisor. The student teaching route to certification is a one-semester non-paid commitment that leads to recommendation for a Standard Certification.

The Spring 2009 Application deadline for Student Teaching is December 1, 2008. Please get your application in early. We are currently placing student teachers in New Caney ISD, Aldine ISD and Splendora ISD.

Prerequisites:

• Acceptance into the Teacher Certification Program
• Satisfactory completion of the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities Course
• Satisfactory completion of the Tools for Teaching Course
• Passing score on the TExES Content Exam

The Student Teaching Application deadline is December 1, 2008 for Spring 2008.
